Carboxy Therapy for Scar Removal
Scars are reminders of the past, like souvenirs from past injuries, illnesses, or accidents. There is nothing wrong with wanting to get rid of them, or to at least dull their visibility a little bit. Some people wear theirs as badges of honor proudly, and others are shy, nervous, or even apprehensive about them.
Whatever your opinion on yours, we want you to know that here at Hairfree Clinics, we specialize in cutting-edge treatments to help make scars appear less visible. Having a large mark on a prominent area of your body means that it is going to be one of the first things that people see on you.
If you don’t mind that, then great. If you can wear it proudly – even better. Most people find this difficult, though, and that is who we are here for. At our Toronto clinic, we offer carboxy therapy for scars. This cosmetic treatment is minimally-invasive, pain-free, and extremely convenient. After just a few treatments you will see your scars begin to fade away. We want to help you gain that confidence that you used to have back, and stop you from worrying about who is looking.
What is Carboxy Therapy?
Carboxy therapy is the use of carbon dioxide, or CO2, to naturally stimulate your own body to be healthier. What we do is inject small amounts of this natural element into the areas that we want to stimulate, and we let your body go to work. Through a holistic approach, using other treatments as support, your body can become healthier and make itself look better on its own without invasive procedures or unnatural products.
How Does it Affect Scars?
It may seem strange to think that we can treat or “remove” scars, since we have always learned that they are permanent instances of damage to our bodies. In essence we don’t really remove anything at all. The way that the procedure works is we inject the CO2 into your skin in predetermined areas around the scars. From there, your own body naturally stimulates the blood flow and collagen levels in these areas. In turn, the tissue in the vicinity begins to become healthier and better looking in general.
Over several treatments, you will begin to notice that the incision that caused the scarring doesn’t stand out nearly as much. After a full set of treatments, the end result is a scar that blends in flush with the skin around it. This means that people will have a lot of difficulty even noticing that it is there!
How Long Does it Take
This is going to depend heavily upon the scarring that we are working on. The newer, fresher, or more severe the scarring, then the more the treatments you are going to need. Our trained doctors recommend between 4-6 procedures for minor ones, and many more for heavy scarring. The important thing to keep in mind here is that everyone’s body is different, and therefor will react differently to our treatments. The only way we can really know is to give you an evaluation, and to see how each procedure turns out in the end.
How does the procedure work?
The procedure is simple, minimally-invasive, and virtually pain-free. When you step into our office, we will only need about 5 to 15 minutes to treat you. We inject the CO2 into previously chosen areas around your scars with a fine needle. You may feel a slight pinching sensation, but there is no real pain to speak of, and the treatments do not require anaesthesia.
You may feel slightly different with this influx of CO2, but there is nothing to worry about. In no time at all you should see the skin in the areas begin to act differently, and the coloration begin to change. With no downtime afterwards, you can be back on your way immediately
